Meet Sharon Botwinik

Sharon Botwinik, President and Founder

With more than 20 years of hands on experience re-engineering business processes, redesigning organizations, and implementing technology to improve operating results and customer satisfaction in multiple industries, Sharon Botwinik has successfully overcome many of the regulatory, technological, and competitive pressures her clients now face. Sharon has worked for and consulted with major players in the financial services, manufacturing, telecommunications, and healthcare industries.

As President and founder of Business Intelligence Solutions (BIS), Sharon is a part of all BIS consulting engagements, providing a seasoned expert who remains actively involved from start to finish. Sharon’s expertise and background includes the following core competencies:

  • Business process redesign to increase quality, reduce costs, and improve time to market;
  • Response to new or changing regulations with technology, process, and organizational enhancements;
  • Implementation of new technology solutions to improve performance, reduce risk, enhance productivity, and lower costs;
  • Supply chain management including manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics;
  • Organizational change and redesign including plant start-up and shut-down, and change from union to high performance systems;
  • Project and program management for large, complex, cross-enterprise initiatives with multiple operating units and corporate staff functions participating.

Prior to founding BIS, Sharon worked for and consulted with a number of well-known organizations, including:

  • Forrester Research, Senior Analyst. Sharon completed research which examined the impact of organizational issues on CRM initiatives, developed new prioritization methods for technology investments, and created a new model and roadmap for deconstructing traditional IT into business-focused technology management. Sharon has been extensively quoted in industry publications and Web sites including Information Week, ComputerWorld, Forrester Research, Call Center Magazine, and CRM Daily.com.
  • Fidelity Investments, Institutional Brokerage Group. Sharon led strategic planning efforts to identify areas for growth and cross-selling following a merger that combined three business lines. Business grew by 72% over six years as a result of implementing this strategy. She also created the first competitive analysis and market research Web site for internal employees.
  • Fidelity Investments, Internal Consulting Group. Sharon led the redesign of Fidelity's Equity Trading Desk to move from a model of traders paired with portfolio managers to sector traders. The sector traders worked in teams to focus on a sector (such as technology, manufacturing, real estate), resulting in improved trade execution, reduced costs, and increased efficiencies. Integrated and redesigned trading processes reduced costs by 25%.
  • Symmetrix, Consulting Firm. Sharon created a new product development process for Sprint, directing the efforts of four regional teams to build new processes, roles, organizational models, and transition plans. She also reengineered the mail order pharmacy for ValueRx, including production analysis and vendor automation review and selection, resulting in doubled capacity, reduced costs by 40%, and improved cycle time by 50%.
  • Procter & Gamble, Manufacturing Division. Sharon led the shutdown of warehouse operations following a management decision to close the plant. She synchronized production and supplies to ensure customer needs were met, supply remnants were minimized, and transition to a new plant went smoothly. She was a key member of the team responsible for employee transition; created a placement process including resume, interview, and job analysis classes; and coordinated efforts with other P&G facilities across the US. These efforts resulted in over 40% retrained and relocated within P&G.
  • Procter & Gamble, Manufacturing Division. Sharon implemented a synchronized manufacturing approach to improve quality, reduce cost, and increase efficiency of operations. These efforts reduced 60% work-in-process and 30% finished product inventories plant-wide, saving $30 million in the first year, with $15 million annualized savings.

Sharon received an M.B.A. from Columbia University Graduate School of Business and a B.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
