The Situation
A large financial services company was struggling to implement an enterprise-wide "Records Management Program."

The Challenge
The company’s previous bottom-up approach and lack of consistency across multiple business lines had led to a stagnating program that could be implemented easily.

The Objective
Business Intelligence Solutions (BIS) was engaged to develop a top-down approach to identify the regulatory and operational records required for this vast organization.

Resolution
BIS worked with Records Management, Compliance, Legal, Business Unit experts and industry experts to develop a consistent and regulatory-driven set of records management requirements. BIS led business unit and related cross-functional group conversations to build consensus on records management requirements (names, retention periods, and the regulatory functions/business units to which they pertained). This effort resulted in a clear, consistent, and right level of detail for successful implementation.
