CASE STUDY 2
Web-Based Records Management System Design, Development, and Rollout
The Situation
Records management information was housed in a single-user, "Microsoft Access" database, with limited reporting and analysis capabilities. Record retention information was inaccessible to business unit experts in the company.
The Challenge
Expand access to records retention schedules to key users across the enterprise, including Records Management, Business Unit Experts, Legal, and Compliance functions.
The Objective
Business Intelligence Solutions (BIS) was asked to lead a team to design and build a Web-based Records Management System to house records retention schedules and to provide role-based access to users across the firm.
Resolution
BIS led the design of a Web-based records management system, including working with subject matter experts in Records Management, and an offshore development team in India. BIS collected and delivered the business requirement documents, partnered with a development team on design, created and led user testing programs, and coordinated rollout with the firm's business and technology resources. BIS also successfully led and delivered three subsequent rounds of
enhancements over an 18-month period.
